To Simon Heffer: I have the answer to your problem: “I have been trying and failing, to fathom why Gérard Araud, France’s ambassador to the United States of America, chose to unleash a tweet... ‘a world is collapsing before our eyes’”.
(Comment, Feb 2017):
Gérard Araud is a man of conviction and principle who believes in liberty, freedom, equality and fraternity for all citizens. I hope you agree?
If your prediction that it won’t be too long before Air Force One will touch down at Orly, then I predict that Donald Trump will be met in equal measure by those willing to appease him and those willing to demonstrate that they are prepared to stand up and be counted in protest at him being welcomed to a country that has a proud history of liberty, freedom, equality and fraternity for all citizens.
