French President Emmanuel Macron announced in a televised speech on Tuesday that France would begin moving towards deconfinement.
France has been under lockdown since October 30 to stem the spread of Covid-19.
Mr Macron said in the speech, "the peak of the second wave of the epidemic has passed... Our efforts, your efforts have paid off."
