Sky-high wedding in WWII plane after watery proposal

Adventurous couple from south of France who got engaged underwater marry in wartime DC-3 flying over home town

How do you top an underwater marriage proposal? By having the ceremony take place in a vintage aeroplane flying 500m above your home town.

The adventurous couple, from the Alpes-Maritimes town of Mandelieu-la Napoule, were married in a wartime US Air Force DC-3 that had played a role in the Normandy Landings, regional newspaper Nice Matin reports.

The plane's story is almost as interesting. After its war service, the plane passed into French army hands, and was then owned by the president of the Central African Republic before being bought by an association in southeast France - and becoming an unusual wedding venue.
