DCEM – Document de circulation pour étranger mineur. A young foreign person’s travel document issued by prefectures to non- EU residents aged under 18

Eta – A UK scheme similar to Etias. It stands for electronic travel authorisation. 

EEA – the European Economic Area. This includes all of the EU states plus Liechtenstein, Norway and Iceland, which have close links to the EU.

ETIAS– pre-approval to enter the Schengen area, It stands for European Travel Information Authorisation System

European Entry / Exit System (EES) – The new system of digital border controls

Parafe – the French term for automated passport gates found at large airports (known in English as e-gates)
