Carte Vitale: rules when leaving France
You must make the health authorities aware of the move
Can I keep my carte Vitale if I move away from France?
No, if you move away from France permanently you must make the health authorities aware of the change. You should let your Cpam know at the latest within one month of moving away, and can use the form S1105 Déclaration de transfert de résidence hors de France.
You should also hand in your (and your family’s) card at the Cpam offices or post it to them. Exceptions to this include if you are drawing a French social security retirement pension. In this case, you can still use French healthcare on visits to France.
This also does not apply in certain cases, such as if someone is working abroad for the French state, or as a posted worker.
