I am going to be working for a family as a nanny – how will my tax be taken off at source?

The prelevement à la source system applies to the salaries of those who work in people’s homes, such as nannies. There is nothing specific for you to do as the at-source tax on your pay will be worked out by your employer.

The employer will pay you after deduction of the appropriate tax, which will be debited by a system called Pajemploi from their bank account.

Note that employers have an option to take their tax credit money directly out of what they pay you, though this should be agreed with you. In this case the rest of your full salary will be topped up by a direct debit payment from the state.
