The mobile network of French telecoms giant Orange is currently experiencing “disruption”, with calls, texts, and mobile data access “severely affected,” the operator said on Wednesday.

Issues were reported late on Wednesday morning, although landline and broadband connections seem mostly unaffected.

Customers on Sosh, the operator’s low-cost brand, have also reported issues.

The Downdetector website, which tracks whether networks and websites are functioning and allows users to signal issues, has received 12,000 reports from Orange customers, spiking just before midday.

“You may currently be experiencing disruptions on the Orange mobile network,” said the operator in a post on social media site X.

“Our technical teams are fully mobilised to identify the source of the incident and restore services as quickly as possible,” Orange told public service broadcaster FranceInfo.

The group, however, is yet to confirm what caused the issue.

Some mobile networks are reported to be returning after 12:30 according to media outlet Actu, but many connections remain unavailable.
