This French bridge is considered one of the greatest engineering achievements of modern times

Standing at 343m, this is the second tallest bridge in the world by structural height. It was knocked off the top spot in 2025 by the Changtai Yangtze River Bridge (352m) in China.

The central pillar is taller than the Eiffel Tower and four times the height of London’s Big Ben; it is only just lower than the Empire State Building.

The project was led by French engineer Michel Virlogeux and English architect Norman Foster
