Reader says there are simple ways to adapt to the heat

To the Editor,

I read with no sympathy about those who were forecast to suffer 30C in parts of France this summer.

My only comment: get a grip. Enjoy the warmth.

My wife and I, in our 70s, were uncomfortable but nothing more with 39C in Mâcon a few years back in a touring caravan, needless to say with no AC.

We bought a fan which helped by moving air around and we also have a small humidifier, which blows air across wet sponges, cooling it down a little.

Having worked in the Middle East for many years, often in Kuwait, we would experience temperatures in the upper 40s to well over 50C.

We adapted our lifestyle to cope rather than whingeing about how hot it was.
