American tourist dies in motorway crash near Paris airport
The woman was in a car parked on the hard shoulder when another vehicle drove into it. Another American in the car is facing life-threatening injuries
The death of a 37-year-old American tourist following a road accident in northern France has been confirmed.
The victim was in a car on the A3 with another American woman (aged 46), when they were involved in a collision near Roissy Charles de Gaulle airport (Val-d’Oise).
The accident took place around 22:00 on Wednesday (July 15).
French media outlets report that the Americans were in a vehicle parked on the motorway’s hard shoulder, when another vehicle drove into them.
Firefighters had to retrieve the two Americans from their vehicle after it was wrecked in the crash.
The 37-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, and the 46-year-old was taken to Beaujon Hospital in Clichy in a critical condition.
The two people in the other car were also transported to hospital, but their condition is not said to be life-threatening.
At this point it is not known if there are any other contributing factors to the incident.
