Best spring ever for ‘Macron coaches’
Passengers travelling on long-distance coaches across France rose by 43% this spring compared to last year, figures for 2018’s second quarter show.
The regular train strikes in the period are thought to be the reason why 2.4million people took “Macron coaches” (Flixbus, Ouibus, Isilines) - so-called from a 2015 law on ways to boost the economy, including opening up the coach market, when Emmanuel Macron was economy minister.
The coach companies saw profits rise by 40% in the best quarter for the sector since the 2015 changes.
