Churchill’s yacht for sale in France
The 42m vessel Amazon, built in 1936, could be yours for €2million
THE yacht of former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill is up for sale in France for €2million.
Built at the Thornycroft shipyard especially for Churchill in 1936, it has three main decks which can accommodate up to 60 people, with rooms for 12 guests and living quarters for eight crew.
On board are a bar, office and meeting room, a 40m2 lounge, kitchen, dining room and captain’s room, plus a sun lounge and jacuzzi on top.
Since its launch the yacht has undergone two restorations, in 1990 and 2005.
It has a range of 4000 nautical miles and a cruising speed 11 knots.
Named The Amazon / Welsh Liberty, it is currently docked at Limay in Yvelines, west of Paris
