Corsicans handed priority on island's jobs market
Charter signed by Assembly president promotes recruitment of Corsican residents over workers from elsewhere

Corsicans are set to get preferential treatment in the island's jobs market, after a charter was published by the island's nationalists.
The charter, signed by Corsican Assembly president Jean-Guy Talamoni and 15 professional organisations on the island is being presented as a solution to unemployment in Corsica. It envisages giving priority for jobs to residents of the island to 'promote recruitment of those who have moral and material interests in Corsica and whose skills are sufficient for the job'.
"There are a number of posts where there is an absolute need to give priority to Corsican residents, given the state of these sectors of activity," Mr Talamoni said.
The sectors most affected are hotel and construction and the objective is to reduce reliance on foreign workers.
