As summer travel begins around Europe, the French government has released new videos reminding people how to stay safe and healthy while on holiday this summer, to avoid further spread of Covid-19.

In one of the videos, there are reminders to wear masks, wash your hands with soap and keep at least a one-meter distance between yourself and others.

How to 'faire la bise' safely
A second video reminds viewers that it is not recommended to touch others when you greet them. This includes giving hugs, shaking hands, and kissing on the cheeks (giving “la bise”) when meeting others.

Additional safety recommendations
Additional measures recommended by the government in France include covering coughs with your elbow rather than your hands, using single-use tissues and throwing them away after use, and avoiding touching your face.

How to prepare for a holiday in France
The health ministry has issued additional advice for holidaymakers via its Twitter account.
Suggestions include making sure that you and your family are up to date with vaccinations before you leave on holiday. Additionally, holidaymakers should pack masks, hand gel, a first aid kit, and a list of emergency numbers.
Those planning to visit the beach while on holiday are advised to take a rubbish bag with them to ensure all rubbish is thrown away safely, especially tissues and single-use masks.
Beach-goers are also reminded to keep a distance of one metre or more from others when choosing where to sit on the beach.
