DHL suspends high-value deliveries to US from France
The temporary measure, adopted on April 21, is the result of delays linked to increased clearance checks

Global delivery service DHL has temporarily blocked certain shipments to the United States - including those from France - worth over $800 (€695), with effect from Monday April 21.
“As a result of recent US Customs regulatory updates, we are experiencing multi-day transit delays to the US from any origin for shipments with a declared customs value exceeding USD 800,” DHL announced in a recent statement.
The delays have accumulated since the Trump administration’s customs updates came into force on April 5. Prior to this date, the minimum threshold for parcels requiring formal entry processing was set at $2,500 dollars (€2,170).

DHL say they are working “around the clock” to manage the increased checks, which involve individual clearance.
Who is affected?
The suspension affects all businesses “regardless of origin” when shipping to private consumers in the US.
Business to business shipping to the US is not affected although DHL says some deliveries may still face delays.

Parcels with a declarable customs value below $800 are also not affected by the suspension.
Some businesses have suggested consumers split orders into smaller shipments to bypass the new checks.
Although the measure is temporary, no timeframe for any change has been given.
