Dream job testing luxury hotel rooms
Nationwide hunt for ‘test guest’ to try out every room and every service – so far 300 have applied
A LUXURY hotel has launched a national hunt for a guest-tester to “test our rooms” - and English-speakers are welcome to apply for the dream job.
Vertigo Hotel general manager Clémence Carminati said the test guest will be paid €2,000 to try out each of the hotel’s rooms and services over 42 days after it opens in Dijon in mid-December.
Ms Carmanati said she had so far received more than 300 applications for the dream job in Côté-d’Or and they had come from all ages and backgrounds, including students, school-leavers, jobseekers, pensioners, PRs and bloggers.
The job will involve writing tweets, Facebook entries and taking photos of their experiences as they try each room and sample different hotel facilities or services each day including spa treatments, room service, gym, full-size cinema and the hotel’s electric BMW i3 car.
He or she will also have to try out the local restaurants and shops that feature in a guide book the hotel is compiling – plus take part in a tour of the Route des Grand Crus wine itinerary.
Ms Carmanati said she was looking for someone with great communication skills, creative flair in keeping with the hotel’s innovative ethos and a “new eye” on the area.
The job is open to bilingual French and English-speaking candidates, who could write their entries in English as the Vertigo hotel is part of the international Design Hotels group and is looking to attract visitors from across Europe, particularly from the UK and Benelux countries.
The successful candidate will be chosen next month and start a week after the hotel opens.
