Drone firm can scatter ashes in French countryside while family watch
Terra Ciela offers the Montagne Noire mountain range in Tarn or clients can choose a personalised location
A French company is aiming to make it easier to scatter a loved one’s ashes by providing a drone service.
Aerial video and route map for bereaved
Terra Ciela offers drones, guided by professionals, which will scatter ashes in nature, while the family can organise a ceremony to witness the flight.

There is an option to receive a video, including footage taken by the drone, and GPS tracking allowing loved ones to return to the site.
The law allows ashes to be scattered in nature, as long as this does not include a waterway or public road.
Request a location
The company currently offers two sites in the Montagne Noire mountain range in Tarn in south west France, but it has ambitions to open up to the rest of the country.
It suggests the example of a winegrower who would like to have his ashes scattered in his vineyard, since it is possible to request a location of your own.
The same service is available for pets, as long as they do not weigh more than 90kg.
Prices start at €390, and reach €1,300 for personalised locations.
