Five-legged sheep for sale

A breeder from the Charente is looking for a home for an unusual sheep born on his farm this spring

A SHEEP breeder from the Charente is trying to sell a five-legged sheep on Le Bon Coin.

So far the animal – which has a fifth small leg on its left side which is not functional but “doesn’t bother it” – has not found a taker. Owner Yvan Delage says he hopes a zoo might take an interest.

The sheep was born in February, along with a four-legged sibling and was in all respects normal apart from its extra limb.

However Mr Delage has said he prefers to sell it on rather than breed with it, in case it has more malformed lambs. He has set a minimum price of €200.

A group of agriculture students has booked to come and look at it.

“They say the five-legged sheep doesn’t exist, but in fact it does – there’s the proof,” said Mr Delage, referring to an expression which means “something that is (almost) impossible to find”.
