Some 38 yellow alerts now concern the north east, far north and centre of France.
National forecaster Météo France has stated that the most active rainfall is now over the mountains.
Snow is still falling across areas under a yellow alert but is expected to stop overnight.
Tomorrow (December 16), the last of the precipitation will abate towards midday.
Yellow warnings do not require any particular action but affected residents are asked to remain vigilant to the evolving situation.
There are also yellow weather alerts in place across different areas of France for avalanches and heavy rain, and Hautes-Alpes is under an orange avalanche warning.
You can find out more on the Météo France website.
