All regions of France will see at least one day of sunshine to close off the summer period this weekend.
However, storms in the south-west on Sunday will bring a brief spike in temperatures quickly to an end.
Rain is expected across much of the west, and at the start of next week will cover France for several days.
Friday September 5
A pocket of stormy weather will remain in the east around the German border throughout the day, but fizzle out by the end of the afternoon.
Elsewhere, clouds in the north will persist but are unlikely to bring rain and will disappear throughout the day.
The south will remain sunny throughout.
Temperatures north of the Loire will remain around 20C, rising to 22C around Paris.
South of the river an average of 25C is expected, rising closer to 30C in the south-west and along the Mediterranean.
Saturday September 6
Saturday will be peaceful for the most part, save for some showers in Brittany and strong winds along the western Mediterranean.
Cloud coverage will remain in parts of the north and east, although the clouds will be thin and allow sunshine through, bringing a summer-y feel to the day.
In the west it will be sunny and warm, as temperatures reach around 23C - 25C in the north, and up to 28C in the south.
The south-west will see temperatures of around 30C, rising to 33C and 34C locally.
Sunday September 7
The calm and summery conditions will move eastwards, providing ample sunshine and warm weather to the east.
Highs of 27C along the German border and in the south-east are likely alongside the sun, making the day significantly warmer than Friday or Saturday.
However, the west of the country will see rainfall and stormy weather.
An early bout of rain will push from Brittany and the Pays-de-la-Loire inland into Normandy and central France.
Soon after, storms in the south-west – potentially violent – will cover the area and last for much of the day.
They will move inland, over the Massif Central and potentially as far east as Lyon and Vichy by the evening.
Temperatures in the south-west will drop by around 10C due to the storms.
Official warnings from state forecaster Météo France will only be available on Saturday regarding the storms, but it is possible that heightened alerts will be raised.
It is advised to keep up with weather alerts across the weekend, particularly if you are in the south-west.
Early forecasts for next week point towards a wet week across the country.
