Commuters using lines 1 and 11 of the Metro in Paris may notice something a little different when passing through the station marked Hôtel de Ville.

To celebrate the official naming of Paris as host city for the 2024 Olympic Games, the station has been renamed Ville Hôte for the weekend. The original name will be restored on Monday, September 18.

Walkways in the station have also been transformed into an athletics track, while entrances on rue Lobau and rue Rivoli are decked out in the livery of Paris 2024.

On Friday, a free concert was held outside City Hall, featuring performances from Kids United, Christophe Willem, Florent Pagny and Imany.

It is not the first time regional transport operator RATP, an official partner of the 2024 games, has changed the names of Metro stations. Earlier this year, it changed the names of several stations for April Fool's Day.
