Strike hits TGV services between Paris and west France
Just three in 10 scheduled services operating on some lines as depot walkout continues
Just 30% of train services are running on some routes between Paris and western France because of ongoing strike action, rail operator SNCF has said.
As reported, the strike began last Thursday after a dispute over working hours and competition at a maintenance depot for TGV trains running in western France. SNCF kept most services running over the weekend, but said its operations would be hit more severely from this week.
With hundreds of TGV trains stuck in the depot, only three in 10 services will operate on Monday on routes between Paris Montparnasse and Bordeaux, Rennes, Toulouse, Nantes and Saint-Malo.
SNCF said people who have pre-booked seats on cancelled services have been sent emails and text messages telling them their train has been cancelled. It has urged passengers not to travel if they can avoid it as those services that are running will be exceptionally busy.
