Three out of four flights cancelled
Lille Airport hit by strike of air controllers causing cancellations and late take-offs
A LARGE number of flights to and from Lille Airport have been cancelled today due to a strike by air controllers.
In all, around 40 flights have been affected including Air France flights for Bordeaux, Lyon St Exupéry, Marseille, Nantes, Strasbourg and Toulouse as well as the Air Méditerranée service to Nice.
Only one in four flights is expected to get away and flights could see delays. The disruption is expected to last until Friday morning.
It is the second strike by air controllers who are calling for more staff in a new radar control room.
They want five staff while management want three and said staff numbers had not changed since 2000, despite a 20% increase in flights. Easyjet is also due to start flights at the end of this month.
