West France faces flood alerts: weather outlook for week
Calm will follow storm although showers are expected in latter half of week for most
A number of departments are still facing heightened weather alerts after successive storms battered France over the last week.
Mostly in the west of France, some departments are facing tier-three orange warnings for flooding from burst riverbanks.
Elsewhere, one department in the north (Pas-de-Calais) is also facing heightened warnings for river flooding, as well as for heavy rain and flash flooding.
Some respite is expected after today (November 6), however, with the number of departments facing alerts falling on Tuesday, before a week of relative calm is expected for most of the country.
Rain is expected throughout the week, but the intensity of the showers are unlikely to cause weather alerts.
Departments still on alert after storms
There are still 29 departments facing weather alerts on Monday, including seven on heightened alert.
Those on heightened alert are Deux-Sèvres, Vienne, Charente, Charente-Maritime, Dordogne, and Gironde in the west, as well as Pas-de-Calais in the north.
The warnings are expected to remain in place for the majority of the day, although may be lifted in some areas this morning. Corrèze was also on a tier-three warning, but saw its alert level fall to tier-two.
You can use the official Vigicrues website to check out which rivers are facing flooding risks.
Many of these departments, and others in the west, are also on alert for heavy rain, storms, waves, and high winds – gales of up to 80 km/h are still expected on the Atlantic coast today, as the remnants of Storm Domingos hit the area.

Four mountainous departments in the east are facing avalanche warnings.
You can keep up to date with warnings on the official Météo Francewebsite – as always, the warnings are likely to change throughout the day.
Calmer week ahead
Storms are not expected to hit France for the rest of the week, either from the Mediterranean or Atlantic.
Early forecasts for Tuesday (November 7) see the number of warnings across France drop, with only a handful of tier-two yellow alerts remaining in place.
Wednesday onwards should see even fewer departments on alert, as the stormy weather comes to a definitive end.
Rain is forecast across France for much of the latter half of the week (particularly in the north and centre) although this is unlikely to cause weather warnings.
The rain will reach the south of France by Friday morning (earlier in the south-east), with most of the country seeing rain throughout Saturday.
On Sunday, however, the rain should be limited only to the east coast. The rest of the country faces a cloudy, chilly, but rain-free day.
