Communes in the west of France can expect to see a low-flying helicopter until at least May 30.
The operation is being organised by French electricity network operator, Enedis, in the region of Loire-Atlantique.
The programmed flights, which began on April 22, will help to survey the condition of medium-voltage overhead electricity lines with the goal of preventing potential power cuts.

“The aim of these flights is to detect and locate equipment showing faults or signs of wear that warrant replacement (damaged poles, broken insulators, lines with cut wires, distorted supports) and to analyse the vegetation on either side of the supports.” said Enedis.
Several communes have posted the Enedis press release on social media, detailing the precise time period to expect operations in the local area.
Similar helicopter inspections took place in 2024 as Enedis checked nearly 4,000 km of power lines in 166 Loire-Atlantique communes.
