The best way to sell a used car in France
Selling a used vehicle is easy through a garage, but you will likely get a better price selling privately
Rent a car one-way for just €1
Yes, there's a catch... drivers are returning vehicles for car-hire companies, so no return included
Renting a car, van or removals van for €1 sounds crazy but is being offered by Luckyloc, a company that returns rental cars for hire companies – so all rentals are one way.
The map at Luckyloc.com shows sites where vehicles are available and clicking the city shows the destinations – €1 to drive a citadine town car from Nice to Paris or Lyon, €1 for a removals van from Rouen to Brive or €1 for a truck from Perpignan to Aix-en-Provence.
Drivers pay fuel and péage and have 20% leeway on the calculated distance with up to 24hours to deliver a vehicle up to 500km or 48hours over that.
Vehicles are available on different days and can be booked in advance – but the majority of the trips target Paris.
Drivers can offer car-sharing to cut costs but in Brittany the SNCF service Ouicar is offering to share the rail firm’s own vehicles at weekends for €25.
Offering mostly vans, the service is on test in Brest then Redon, Rennes, Saint-Brieuc and Vannes and drivers get 200km of usage. Users download the Ouicar app which unlocks the vehicle’s electronic lock.
