France lockdown: What is open and what is not?
Schools will remain open while universities will close

France’s second national lockdown will come into effect from Thursday midnight and will last until at least December 1.
The announcement was made by President Emmanuel Macron in a speech on Wednesday (October 28).
The president confirmed that non-essential shops will have to close but did not give further details. Prime Minister Jean Castex is due to speak this evening where he is expected to give more information on this.
The second lockdown has been dubbed "confinement saison 2" by social media users.
