Shock drink-drive campaign video

Five-minute clip targeting young people features blood, broken bones and real firefighters.

A NEW shock campaign to warn young people about the dangers of drink-driving has been unveiled.

The five-minute video clip, which is only available online, features real firefighters and aims to give as realistic an image as possible of the horror of a car crash.

The video shows a group of young people enjoying an alcohol-fuelled evening, their stumbling in the car park and the festive atmosphere in the car as it meanders its way home.

Throughout the clip, the video cuts to a scene at home where a mother has been woken up at 6.00 and begins to make her way to the door to receive the news that her son has died.

A gory scene in the middle of the video shows the aftermath of the impact - including blood and broken bones - and the cries for help from the trapped passengers, followed by the arrival of the pompiers.

A similar clip targeted at scooter and motorbike drivers is due to be released later this week.

According to French road safety officials, seven young people each week are killed in road accidents linked to alcohol.
