SIX SKIERS have been injured, two of them seriously, as an avalanche struck in the Aravis Pass, near La Clusaz in the Haute-Savoie.

According to authorities in the region, everyone skiing in the area affected by the avalanche has been located, with some needing to be dug out of the snow.

The affected route - the Combe à Marion is known for the quality of its off-piste skiing - but conditions were said to be good when the avalanche occurred on Sunday morning.

Last week, Scottish businessman Jeremy Salvesen, 51, died in hospital in Annecy following an accident on the slopes at the popular ski resort of La Clusaz.
