I liked the story about the EDF computer system error (EDF charges 1m customers twice, on website) – a reason we do not use direct debit.
EDFs online systems are fairly pathetic – most of the Bleu Ciel website which actually works is devoted to publicity. The online payment system has not worked most of the time over the past two years. I have told them this several times but it has not improved. How such a big company can still not have a capable IT department is beyond me.
I now call the English language number and pay from my card over the phone. When they used telepaiement (now billpayment.fr) it was so easy and reliable but they do not use this service now unlike, Veolia.
These EDF people have computers connected to run their nuclear reactors in France but can’t run online payments.
