28-year-old arrested while trying to enter a hotel near popular theme park with guns in his bag, police confirm
A MAN was arrested as he tried to enter a hotel near Disneyland Paris with two handguns in his bag, police have said.
The 28-year-old was carrying at least two weapons and ammunition as well as a copy of the Koran, according to
RTL Radio.
He was stopped when the guns set off security alarms at the New York Hotel early this afternoon. He put up no resistance when arrested, police said.
"I wish to stress that Disney's security services and the police force reacted immediately and took the person out of harm's way," the local prosecutor told
Le Parisien.
The suspect, who police have said is European, is understood to have made a reservation at the hotel. Police have also said they are searching for a companion travelling with the man.
Disneyland Paris is among Europe's most popular tourist destinations.
