Crowd-funding boost for frost-hit vignerons
Vignerons in Aude aiming to crowd-fund cash to stay in business after losing their harvest to frost at the end of spring have raised a large part of their €30,000 target.
The 15 wine-makers lost 40 hectares of grapes and up to 80% of their harvest and, aided by RTL broadcaster Laurent Bazin who has a vineyard nearby, hope to buy grapes and sell the wine. They had raised €22,000 as we went to press.
Temperatures fell below 0C for several nights, hitting about 20,000 hectares of vines.
