Franco-British singer gets career boost with two music awards
Maddy Street from Normandy has been gaining new fans at festivals this summer
The Connexion is pleased to have interviewed one of this year’s most talked-about up-and-coming young French musicians, who is the child of British parents living in France.
Singer-songwriter Maddy Street, appearing at several events this summer performing mostly in English with a pop-rock-rap style, has won the Prix Pernod Ricard France Live Music 2023.
This prestigious prize for young artists comes with a year of support from the drink company, with help from established music professionals and guaranteed slots to perform at many festivals.
Maddy, who grew up in Normandy, is also one of three Norman artists recently selected for the region’s ‘Go+ 2023’ scheme, which also gives a year of help and advice to local musicians to develop their careers.
Look out for our full interview in September’s edition of The Connexion, published at the end of August, about Maddy’s career so far, insights into the French music business, and what it is like to be a binational performer in France who has been dubbed ‘the most British of French artists’ by Pernod Ricard and media including Le Parisien.
In the meantime, you can see Maddy, whose mum Alison is a former sales and marketing coordinator for our media, performing at events including:
- Festival Aérolive, in Colville-Montgoméry, Calvados, on August 4
- Château Sonic, in Brenthonne, Haute Savoie from August 11-13
- Lezart Festival, in Vicq-sur-Gartempe, Vienne, from August 25-26
For more upcoming dates, see Maddy’s Instagram and Facebook pages.
