French guesthouses discriminate: study

Certain customer features are favoured during bookings

Bookings to French guest houses are more likely to be accepted if the customer is male, 40 years old, and has a traditional French name, a study has shown.

The report by the French National Centre for Scientific Research suggests that owners were more likely to accept bookings from 42-year-old males, with a French-sounding name, and who have a more ‘respectable’ home address.
