COVID-19 France:Digital confinement forms launch

Digital Covid-19 confinement forms are available for smartphones from today – three weeks after confinement was introduced in France.

A version of the paper form (both for personal and professional use) with the French translated into English is also now available at this link:

The impending arrival of digital forms was announced last Thursday by Minister of the Interior Christophe Castaner to deliver ‘flexibility’ in response to dealing with the impact of confinement.

The form can be a downloaded directly from the government website (

On your smartphone it can also be found via Google using the search term ‘deplacement Covid-19’. This may differ on other internet search engines.

The information required on the digital form is identical to the paper version, which will continue to be accepted as will signed handwritten versions. It takes just two minutes to complete.

The link will automatically open the form and request your personal information as per the paper document. Complete the personal details, then select your reason for your trip. The date and time are automatically generated but you can amend the time to be exact.

However, be aware the form will also state the date and time it was created to prevent fraudulent use of the form.

You then ‘click’ to create a pdf version of the form, which is downloaded to your phone and contains a QR code, which the police can scan to access the details without the need to touch your phone.

The form instantly downloads to your phone – but locating it is not straightforward.
The first option: Go to your main screen, then, swipe your finger down the screen to reveal the latest notifications. Look through the list until you find the ‘attestation’.
If that doesn’t work, try this (our example was downloaded via Google Chrome on Android). Click on the Google Chrome icon to take you to the main search page.
Locate the three dots in the top right hand corner of the screen. Tap that to open a list of options.
Click downloads and the link to the form should be there as your most recent download.

On iPhones, you can download it in the folder files. You can also screenshot it and find it in your images directly.

Notifications and downloads vary between phones and types.

A digital form was initially introduced just after the start of confinement but withdrawn over concerns about data collection and abuse by other websites.

This digital form MUST be downloaded from the official Ministry of the Interior website insisted Mr Castaner, who has confirmed no data will be collected.

Speaking to Franceinfo on Monday morning, Mr Castaner praised the population for adapting to confinement. He said: "The French are among those in the world who best respect containment.”

He also revealed that out of the 8.2 million checks carried out, almost 480,000 had resulted in a report.

With the commencement of the school holidays in Zone C school region, controls have also been tightened to reduce unnecessary travel and reduce the risk of spreading the virus.

Since Friday April 3, more 160,000 police and gendarmes have been mobilised and carried out almost 1.4 million checks have been carried out over the past three days.
