Is there an exemption for over-70s?

I believe that people aged over 70 may not have to register for the EES. Is that correct? 

No, there is no EES exemption for over-70s. You may be thinking of Etias – which is not expected to start until the end of 2026. 

However, there will be no exemption from Etias formalities, as such, only from the fee (expected to be €20 for people aged 18 to 69). 

Etias will be free for under-18s and people aged 70 and over.
