Reminders and confirmations

The online declaration software gives reminders of certain obligations

As you move through the online declaration, boxes will appear to remind you of certain obligations and choices.

This includes a reminder to non-residents that if they have not opted to declare their worldwide income so as to assess an ‘average rate’, doing so may mean less tax. It says you have ‘nothing to lose’, as the system will show the option that is most favourable to you.

This is completed as an option in Stage 3. A section then opens up later for you to enter your household’s worldwide income, for which the total is also entered in box 8TM.

For investment income that you chose to declare last year under the ordinary bands, you will be presented with a pop-up giving you a choice to repeat this or not. It states that if you keep but the site software sees that it is not favourable to you this year, you will be informed of this at the end of your declaration.
