This popular French town has historic links to an English doctor

An English doctor named James Henry Bennett came to this French town after contracting tuberculosis in 1859, but instead of gradually deteriorating, his health greatly improved. 

He published a book titled Winter and Spring on the Shores of the Mediterranean (1861), which made the town a destination for sufferers of tuberculosis and encouraged its development into a popular 'resort'.
