28 hurt, 21 seriously, as marquee tent collapses during storm in Corsica
Hundreds of children at event organised by a popular local cancer charity when tent collapsed

AT LEAST 28 people were injured, 21 of them seriously, when a marquee tent collapsed during a storm in Corsica, emergency services have said.
Schoolchildren were enjoying an annual event organised by cancer charity Marie-Do in Ajaccio, when the incident occurred late in the morning of Friday, October 14.
Two of the injured required urgent medical care, rescue services said.
Several smaller tents on the site at place Miot also collapsed, and a large truck was tipped over.
The prefect of Corsica told Francetvinfo that between 350 and 400 children were kept at the site during the day. At the time of the incident, pupils from two classes were inside the tent.
None of the children were hurt, officials said. They were in a section of the structure that did not collapse. Parents were advised not to try to collect their children until 5pm.
The storm caused violent downpours of rain and hail, along with what locals have described as a 'mini-tornado'.
