€5k subsidy if you buy electric car
Regional subsidy on top of France’s national incentive scheme, which offers €6,300 to anyone who buys a green vehicle
BUYING a car could become €5,000 cheaper - if you live in the Haute-Normandie region of France... and you decide to buy electric.
Le Figaro has reported that the Regional Council was today due to support proposals to offer €5,000 to individuals and up to €25,000 to companies and communities that decide to buy electric cars.
It will also finance up to 70% of the cost of electric vehicles for schools, and all the cost of installing charging terminals.
The subsidy is on top of the national incentive scheme, which offers up to €6,300 to individuals who buy electric.
In a statement, the Regional Council’s president, Nicolas Rossignol-Mayer, said: “Determined to become one of the first eco-regions of France, the Haute Normandie Regional Council has made the development of electric vehicles and economic and environmental issue.”
Haute-Normandie is home to a number of Renault factories, including Cleon, where the electric Renault ZOE is built.
The Regional Council’s decision is the latest push to electric cars in France, and follows the hugely successful Autolib’ in Paris and Autobleue in Nice.
Last year, a scandal erupted when it turned out Norwegian car dealers
Norwegian car dealers were taking advantage of the subsidy in France to buy electric cars more cheaply before selling them on back home.
