65% disappointed with Sarkozy
Latest poll marks two years in power and only Jacques Chirac has scored worse in recent presidencies.
ABOUT 65% of French people are disappointed with Nicolas Sarkozy’s performance as president according to a poll marking his second year in power.
Only 24% of those polled say they are satisfied with his performance while 11% said they had no comment.
The poll of 1,000 voters was conducted by TNS Sofres/Logica for the Metro newspaper.
It also asked voters to choose if they were satisfied with Sarkozy’s actions.
63% described his actions as negative, 28% as positive and 9% made no comment.
In recent presidencies, only Jacques Chirac in his first term achieved a worse score with 27% positive opinion and 64% negative.
In 1976 Valéry Giscard d’Estaing was rated 42% negative against 44% positive opinion and in 1983 François Mitterrand received a 50% negative and 37% positive.
