Air traffic strike affecting flights
Expect delays and cancellations at airports around France today and until 8.00 tomorrow morning.
HOLIDAYMAKERS planning to fly to or from France are facing delays and cancellations today because of a strike by air traffic controllers.
Five unions representing civil aviation workers are on strike until Thursday morning (July 22), affecting summer holiday travel.
The Direction Générale de l'Aviation Civile, which manages France's airspace, says 50% of flights to and from Paris Orly will be cancelled and 20% at Paris Charles de Gaulle.
Regional airports will also be affected. You should check with your airline before travelling.
Further disruption is likely because storms are forecast by Météo France for the north and west of the country.
The air traffic controllers are protesting against a proposal to cut 500 jobs out of 4,400.
The cuts are part of a plan to merge the French, German, Swiss, Belgian and Dutch airspace, creating a new central European air traffic operation.
