A quarter of flights departing from Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Paris-Orly tomorrow morning (June 9) are being cancelled because of strikes.

Security staff are already striking today (June 8), and passengers have been told to expect delays, although no cancellations have been announced until tomorrow, when the disruption will last between 07:00 and 14:00, when two runways will be closed.

The cancellations come as the result of a request from the Direction Générale de l’Aviation Civile, which has asked airlines to cut their flight schedules down to reduce strike-related delays.

Worker unions are demanding pay rises of €300 to help employees to cope with inflation.

Paris Aéroport, which manages both airports, has said that passengers affected by the cancellations will be transferred to other flights. It is currently advising passengers to arrive three hours ahead of international flights.

Air France has stated that customers impacted by its adapted schedule will be informed directly and offered the opportunity to delay their journey if they wish.

The airline is also advising passengers to check in online to avoid long queues in the airport.

Marseille-Marignane, Nantes-Atlantique and Carcassonne-Sud de France airports have also been affected by the strike, with a Confédération Générale du Travel (CGT) representative for the latter stating that employees are protesting against “a decline in working conditions”.

However, so far these airports have not been subject to cancellations.

Passengers are being encouraged to check their flight status online before travelling to the airport.
