Alert: Two air conditioner models recalled due to fire risk in France
The portable models are sold at Boulanger, Connection and Auchan and should be immediately unplugged
A fire hazard in two portable air conditioning units sold at Boulanger, Connection and Auchan has caused safety officials to issue an alert for anyone who has bought one to stop use and either return the item or call a technician for free to check it.
The alert concerns two models:
- The ECM9 made by ESSENTIEL B, sold at Boulanger and Connection between April 2020 and June 2023. The barcode is 3497674151546 and article code 8007615
- The Q.6771 made by QILIVE, sold at Auchan up to August 7, 2023. The barcode is 3245676776744 and article code 8007615
What to do
If you purchased either of these models, first unplug it and avoid any further use. If you have the Essential B model, call 0800 200 145 so that Boulanger can arrange for a technician to visit free of charge to check that the machine is safe. If you have the QILIVE, take it back to Auchan, which will reimburse you.
Several ‘incidents’
Boulanger stopped selling the unit in June, after “several incidents”, according to the consumer safety body the DGCCRF, and have since been attempting to contact anyone who purchased one.
Auchan, on the other hand, say it identified a defect in the manufacturing process that could potentially cause a fire. However, it was not made immediately clear whether these defects are related.
Flag defective purchases
If you have been affected by a defective purchase or a fraudulent commerce, the DGCCRF invites you to visit their website and signal the problem to them.
