Baccalaureate exams start today
More than 680,000 candidates take up their pencils in schools across France, but how well would you do?
ACROSS France more than 680,000 pupils begin their Baccalaureate exams today.
The youngest candidate is 13 years old, while the oldest, 93, is retaking his, having failed to get it last year.
More than half of the candidates (51%) are taking the bac général, 29% the bac professionnel and 19.7% the bac technologique between June 17 and June 24.
Most candidates begin with philosophy today, although those studying the professionnel will begin with French, followed by history and geography this afternoon.
On top of the 4,242 examination centres in France, there are a further 141 open around the world for the 16,485 students abroad.
The cost of a bac is an average €81.40, covering organisation, transport and overseers.
To mark the exams costs a further €5 per copy, with this year’s students expected to produce four million copies for 170,000 markers.
Le Figaro has put together a series of tests on different Bac subjects, so you can give it a go yourself:
And finally, the English Test. (No one is watching if you mess it up).
