Beckham may back children at Necker
Reports say top Paris hospital is in line to benefit from PSG football star’s charity donation
FOOTBALL star David Beckham may sponsor treatments for children at the world-famous Necker sick children’s hospital in Paris as part of his deal to hand over his pay at Paris Saint-Germain to charitable associations.
Reports say that Beckham’s agents have been in touch with the hospital in Paris 15th arrondissement and the hospital director of sponsorship told Le Parisien/Aujourd'hui en France that it had no information - but it was already a charity partner of PSG and hoped it would be involved.
Beckham said when he signed a five-month deal to play with PSG in January that he would give his pay to charity and the hospital said that a possible sum of €500,000 could pay for a new MRI scanner or a research programme.
PSG players regularly visit youngsters at the hospital and the club has a sponsorship deal to fund programmes to improve the children’s lives.
It is thought that another, unamed, charity will also benefit from some of Beckham’s donation.
There was no answer from the PSG press office this morning, or from Beckham’s agent in London.
