Change to wealth declaration date

Tax officials have released new information on the deadline for ISF declarations if you live outside France in Europe

TAX officials have announced a change to the deadline for wealth tax declarations this year for those with full declarations to make and who are resident in other parts of Europe.

This sets a July 15 deadline for those who need to declare on the 2725 “traditional” wealth tax form, ie. those having taxable net wealth in France of €2.57million or more.

Non-resident wealth tax payers under this threshold must declare their wealth along with their income (ie. by June 17 at midnight for people living in Europe, the Mediterranean, North America and Africa; July 1 for other countries). However note that if you have no French income declaration to make but have net declarable wealth above €1.3million, then you declare on form 2725 like the higher band payers.

Until very recently the official tax website www.impots.gouv.fr stated that the deadlines for the ISF wealth tax declarations on form 2725 were June 17 for residents of France, July 15 for residents of Monaco and September 2 for people resident abroad.

However this has now been changed to state that July 15 also applies to people living in the European Economic Area. An adviser on the official tax helpline confirmed this is correct.

Non-residents’ declarations (apart from residents of Monaco, who declare to the Menton tax office) should be made to the Service des Impôts des Particuliers Non-résidents, 10 rue du Centre; TSA 10010, 93465 Noisy-le-Grand (email : sip.nonresidents@dgfip.finances.gouv.fr tel : 0033 (0) 1 57 33 83 00).
