Easy-look timeline of France’s Covid vaccine rollout

France’s Covid-19 vaccination campaign began on December 27, prioritising those in care homes and the staff there.

The rollout started slowly but has been accelerated by government measures including allowing a six-week gap between the two required doses of the vaccine, instead of three weeks.

The government has also changed the initial rollout plan to allow certain vulnerable categories of people to be vaccinated sooner. This includes health professionals over the age of 50, disabled people living in group homes and people deemed high-risk of developing a serious form of Covid-19.

France is aiming to vaccinate over one million people by the end of January and approximately 14 million people before the summer.
