EasyJet has launched a new domestic route connecting EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg and Lille Airport, improving links between eastern and northern France.

The service began on June 22 and will operate twice a week (Mondays and Fridays) until 28 August, offering options for short city breaks. The route is operated by Airbus A320 aircraft.

Fares for a one-way ticket start from €37.50, including taxes and airport fees, making it an affordable option for domestic travel between the two regions. By comparison, train fares for the same journey start at around €107, almost three times the price of the flight.

In addition, the flight is set to take around 1 hour and 20 minutes, significantly reducing journey times compared with rail or road options, which can take between 4 and 7 hours depending on connections.

The new service will connect the northern city of Lille with EuroAirport, a binational airport straddling the French-Swiss-German border.

On arrival in Lille, the airport is connected to the city centre by a shuttle taking around 20 minutes.

The launch forms part of easyJet’s wider expansion of routes from French regional airports. The airline has also recently announced a new Strasbourg - London Luton route as part of its autumn - winter 2026/27 programme.

Meanwhile, the carrier has also attracted renewed takeover interest in recent weeks, with US investment firm Castlelake reportedly submitting several acquisition proposals, all of which have been rejected until now by easyJet.
