But expert says there will be hospitalisations even among fully vaccinated people who are ‘run down’

“There will be hospitalisations among the elderly, those who are not up to date with their vaccinations, or even those who are, but who are really tired,” he told French media Cnews.
In August, new daily cases were down to the 20,000s, compared to 150,000 at the peak of the seventh wave.
Fourth vaccine dose offered
Immunologist Brigitte Autran of Paris’s Pitié Salpêtrière hospital, says a new wave is “almost certain”, whether due to a new variant or just the arrival of colder weather.
A fourth vaccine dose (second booster) is being recommended for people who are over 60, immunosuppressed or have other health conditions putting them at risk of severe Covid.
Health professionals and home carers are also eligible.
Opinions are divided as to whether it would be useful to offer it to everyone.
